When it comes to signing up for a new credit card, there are certain things you want to avoid doing so you don’t ultimately hurt your credit score or plunge yourself into some sort of debt spiral. Here are two huge mistakes that you’ll want to avoid making at all costs.
- Paying for FICO score. This is an incredibly easy mistake to make since it seems obvious that you’d want your score. However, many cards offer FICO scores for free, so paying for it has become increasingly unnecessary.
- Paying foreign transaction fees. Again, these fees seem like something that may be built into many cards, but these days, the trend is for a lot of card companies to actually waive these fees. In doing so, when you see the option to pay them, especially with a travel card, it’s essentially another unnecessary charge.
